Almonaster la Real, my stay
After a long and hilly cyclingday I was welcomed by Nacho in Almonaster la Real. He is a great host, offered me an appartment all for my own and took lots of time to show me around here 💯.
The appartment was really great. And the OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ had a whole terrass for it's own.

This is a small town, quiet, traditionally build, so white, and hilly. A fine place to stay !

Almonaster la Real has a mosque that was built in the 9th and 10th centurie. It was built on the remains of a 6th-century Visigoth basilica, which materials were reused in its construction. After the reconquest it was converted into a shrine. It is in the Roman, Almohad and Gothic styles, and was classified as a historic monument in 1931.
This is a site of exceptional historic and artistic value, as it is the only mosque in Spain in a rural area that still is practically intact. It has all the characteristics, and the intimate atmosphere, of these modest and sober constructions.

It is no longer used ✅, people now watch tv their handy.
Situated at about 550m above sealevel this is a more high part of this province 💪.
Nacho invited me to a cartrip in (t)his very nice landscape. First we drove to Pena de Arias Montano, a beautiful place with a beautiful viewpoint. This is the view down to Alajar, a village nearby Almonaster.

At that viewpoint are a church Ermita Notra Senora Reina de Los Angeles and the Campanario.
Then we continued to Cortegana to visit the Castle of Cortegana 👌.

Later that day this cod with tomato-salad was a supertasty tapas 👍.

And it does that in so many beautiful ways 👌.
As soon as she is asleep Almonaster looks like this.
We also visited the opening of a beautiful wildlife photographers exposition. Taking pictures like these takes about the opposite of action of being a bicyle traveller. They wait all day(s) without moving while I never wait and always move. And all results are super.
My stay here was a great succes, thank you so much Nacho 💯 !
Tomorrow I will enter Portugal 🤞 ! Bye bye and thank you Spain (2), we will meet again (so in Spain 3). Sure we will then Portugal is surrounded by Spain 😉.
